The First Road Block

Today was the first complicated day we have encountered since we started. In the morning we had our floor boards laid out in a square across the top using the extended cross beams as a balcony. After laying these boards out Josh came up to discuss our plans for the walls and ended up also helping us find better and safer way to lie the floor boards. Josh showed us that using the extending cross beams as a balcony add on was too unsafe by putting to much weight on the area of the beams that wasn't well supported. We decided to change our floor board set up to a fan pattern, by laying the square floor boards inside the triangular frame. This was where our road block came in, no matter how we maneuvered each board the angles we would have to cut always fell between the cross boards, leaving no support for the end of each board as they go inward. We tried a few different methods of using thick and thin boards trying to make the angles all line up on the cross beams but we didn't succeed. Danny and I then discussed our options and came up with a possible alternate option. We proposed to cut a 1 inch notch in each cross beam, lay one board across the middle, flush with the same height of the cross beams then lay all the floor boards on top of the middle cross beam and make one middle cut through all of them. With this Idea we made marks on each board and will discuss it with Josh and Brad tomorrow.
