Watching Paint Dry

Today was the first slower paced day we have had so far. Danny and I both arrived at school eager to continue our momentum from the last two days but were set back by the rain. We opted to paint the metal brackets that Everett and Brad so kindly fabricated for us yesterday. With Brads advice we took a trip to R.P. Johnson's and bought Rustoleum paint primer and regular Rustoleum paint to use for the metal brackets. After we arrived at the maintenance department in search of an indoor spot to spray paint in, we were successful and began the long and somewhat uninteresting process of covering the brackets with primer, then sitting, and waiting for the primer to dry. In between each coat we sanded down the brackets, and then continued the process with the regular Rustoleum paint. The advantage to sanding then adding a coat of paint, and repeating this process many times gives it a much stronger coat of paint which will last much longer and look much better. We used Rostoleum paint because it is a specific spray-paint designed to resist rust on raw metal. Over all today we sanded and painted about 4 coats, while twiddling our thumbs in between coats because of the rain. Hopefully tomorrow the rain will subside and we will have the frame  fastened up on its new beautifully  painted brackets.
