Rain, Soaked Shoes and more Rain

Today was another wet one, I showed up to school around 9:00 AM eager to get started, although the rain deterred me a bit, I managed to find a tarp and some bungee chords to get me out of the wetness. Next, Brad showed up and we went on a search around maintenance for some drill bits to start drilling holes in the metal piping and some clamps to help hold the newly painted brackets and wood framing together. We were successful in finding the needed drill bits, and somewhat successful in finding clamps, (if you consider duct-tape a good clamp.) After the scavenger hunt we brought all the needed materials up to our site and began clearing the site of excess boards. We started with the first frame board and meticulously balanced and steadied it aligning it with a level, finding the perfect balance we securely strap the beam in place using our state of the art duct-tape. After placing the beam at the right height we took a lunch break and then came right back to work. Danny showed up after lunch and the 3 of us began drilling the holes into the metal poles using the new drill bits we found. Drilling the holes was one of the physically hardest tasks I've ever done. You had to push with all your might for as long as possible, and finally, after Danny and I switched off about 3 times the, drill came through the other side. We attached the bolt through the recently drilled holes and moved on to the other side. This time we were drilling through the tree, we used a different drill this time, a compression drill. It was wild and equally hard to hold onto. Fortunately, the drilling wasn't as physically demanding as the metal pole, and we got through the tree in no time. The end of the day came quickly, but we definitely made allot of progress getting that first frame board up, tomorrow we will get the second one up and start laying down the cross frame boards.
